How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Here in Minnesota things have decidedly taken a turn toward the chilly. So today we’re taking a closer look at the cozy caps designer Sarah Smuland created for our Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky Hat Collection.
The Polar Hat was the first hat Sarah designed for this collection. We love the oversized pompom and the lush fringe. We also love how fast and easy it whips up. Good news with the holidays just around the corner.
We didn’t just take pictures of the hats in this collection; we field tested them. Our model, Margaret, had no complaints about cold ears on frozen Lake George.
The Arctic Hat follows the same silhouette as the Polar Hat, minus the pompom. Both designs can be made without the fringe and look equally lovely.
Emma was lucky enough to be shooting when the sun came out. Thanks to the Arctic Hat she was plenty warm when it ducked back behind the clouds a few minutes later.
Sarah designed the Trapper Hat with her son and husband in mind (they spend a lot of time outside) and has since taken to wearing one herself. It keeps her toasty when she’s walking her dog, Diesel, or tending to her chickens.
Optional snaps let you put the earflaps up and out of the way. We went with a classic color for our photoshoot, but you can easily give this a more fashion forward edge by stitching it up in a brighter color (Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky has 24 colors to choose from). Stay tuned to see the three hats for kids in the Bulky Hat Collection.
