Creative Yarns – Featured Shop

February 10, 2011

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

I received a sweet note from a yarn shop owner’s daughter, Whitney, suggesting her mother’s yarn shop to be a featured shop here on Spud says! How could I resist? The shop is called Creative Yarns and it is in Macon, Georgia. This shop just loves Spud & Chloë as you can see from all of the shop samples worked up in our yarns! The shop is in an old house and it looks so inviting.

All of the photos are courtesy of Whitney Ott.

Here is some insight into the shop straight from Kathy Davies, an employee at the shop:

“Although it was started as a teaching business, in 2003 Christy Ott opened a brick and mortar shop that was quick to become a favorite for knitters and crocheters all over the central Georgia area. The friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make every visit a pleasure whether you need help with a project, selecting yarn or tools or just browsing through all the fiber.”

(The Bumble Up Scarf is on the left, ask about the sweater at Creative Yarns! The Braided Scarf is on the right with the some lovely fair isle mitts – ask about the mitts at Creative Yarns.)

“My favorite rooms in the shop are at the front of the store, off to the right. A recent reorganization led to a small sock room, full of our favorite sock yarns, books and tools; its own little space to get lost in for a while. And, finally, what I call the ‘green room’…a whole room dedicated to eco-friendly yarns where, of course, Spud & Chloë lives!”

“The atmosphere in the store is so welcoming, helpful and friendly that people tend to take a long time wandering from room to room and then back again. But the store also recently opened an online shop, so if you can’t make it into the store, you can always visit us there!”

It’s me again! Thanks Kathy for the nice description of the shop. The Li’l Man Vest and the Hoot Hat is on the left above and the Boy Meets Girl hat is on the right above.

The Camp Hoodie is on the left! I don’t know the hat pattern on the right but give the shop a call or send an email to find out.

I love the Ribbits in the Watermelon and Grass colorways of Sweater. The Buga Baby Bunting looks so cozy in the Hedge colorway of Outer. That’s our reversible canvas Spud & Chloë tote up there, too.

This hat looks like a variation of my Sweetheart Hat pattern done in Sweater. I love the Toast colorway freckled with shades of pink. Adorable.

If you have any questions about the patterns in this post give Creative Yarns a call or send an email to find out more.

Thanks Whitney for sharing Creative Yarns with us and getting in touch with me. Thanks to Christi, too! You have a wonderful daughter.
