Head for the Hills

The Winter 2014 issue of Interweave Knits is filled with designs that do a wonderful job of mixing feminine details with a distinctly rugged and outdoorsy quality. Take the Cerrito Cardigan, (the name translates as “little hills” in Spanish). Part of the Below the Mesa collection, it’s equally at home worn with your favorite jeans for a weekend walk in the woods or belted with a skirt for an evening out with friends. (Although, I don’t think I’d loose those boots, no matter what the occasion!)

Part of the charm of this piece comes from the yarn–the ever versatile Blue Sky Alpacas Metalico. A lightweight 50-50 blend of baby alpaca and mulberry silk makes this a great layering sweater for all seasons. Shimmery Metalico lends itself to dressing up, but we love seeing this more casual styling too. Either way it’s a worthwhile indulgence.
